Movie Review: Avatar

Went to the IMAX theater in Pacific Science Center last night to watch Avatar. I enjoyed it very much. The graphics are beautiful and the 3D special effects made the movie extra lively. I heard feedback about bad story lines but I don’t agree. It may be a bit predictable and standard, but overall it’s action-packed and adventure-filled, plenty of surprises and climaxes. The story, graphics, and creative details are amazing.

Movie Review: Star Trek

We watched Star Trek at IMAX in the Pacific Science Center Monday night. The movie was amazing. I loved the visual and sound effects. Better yet, I am one of those who have no clue about the original Star Trek series, but I have very little problem with following the plot.

This is a must-watch, preferably at an IMAX theater!

Review: Watchmen

watchmen_silk_spectreWatched the new movie Watchmen at the Neptune Landmark on Sunday afternoon. The movie was just released on Thursday so we were slightly surprised that it wasn’t a full house. Perhaps it was the sun break.

Anyways, neither of us have read the comic so we went in strictly for the special graphics/ effects/ hype.

Brief Summary:
This movie is kind of like the ultimate antithesis to all hero stories. The heroes described in Watchmen are mostly sociopaths (Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Ink, and that Adrian guy) or sluts (both Miss Jupiter’s). There were lots of violence/ blood when they were supposedly ‘saving the world.’ Hitting civilians, blazing fire at ill-/ un-armed Vietnamese soldiers, Comedian shooting a Vietnamese lady that he impregnated, and all killing scenes in general have blood/ flesh flying everywhere.

Additional Highlights:

  • The advanced special graphics/ effects and flying ships in the background kept getting me confused about that this comic/ movie was set in the 1980′s.
  • The graphics are definitely good-looking, and young Miss Jupiter is quite a sexy hotty, nonetheless.
  • Most viewers would likely find the proportion of male vs. female nudity quite surprising.
  • At one point we thought about visiting IMAX for the movie; good that we didn’t, as it wasn’t really worthy.
  • The movie isn’t bad, it’s just not as impressive as the trailer seems to portray.
  • We went straight to a Barnes and Nobles after the movie curious of the background of this comic/ story. Interestingly, the comic book we found is almost identical (frame by frame) to the movie. Guess there isn’t really a story behind the story.

If you haven’t seen Star Wars…

I saw this on Corrie Haffly’s blog who saw it on Nic’s blog. So funny that I must share!!
